How to use and set up SMS Gateway

Article describes in short how SONARPLEX NG can be used as Gateway for SMS delivery. NG devices are having an internal GSM modem, which has to be staffed with appropriate SIM card and configured accordingly. Afterwards it can deliver its own SMS notifications by GSM and it is able to receive SMS notifications from other SONARPLEX devices in order to deliver them to final destination. In other words, SONARPLEX NG appliances are acting the same way as FoxBOX devices in terms of SMS delivery.

Setting up SONARPLEX NG (SMS Gateway)

  1. Insert SIM card
  2. Configure GSM Modem


Setting up SONARPLEX Devices (SMS Gateway clients)

  1. Set log level to INFO



  2. Configure SMS Gateway address and appropriate data



  3. Send Test SMS





  4. Check if SMS has been delivered by log file send_sms.log


If your SMS Gateway (FoxBox or NG) refuses to deliver SMS, you can test it straight from within your default browser by using URL http://<gateway_IP>/cgi-bin/send_sms.cgi. According to log entries above URL looks like follows: http://192.168.178.114/cgi-bin/send_sms.cgi
