This section covers the setup part for an azeti SONARPLEX appliance. This will help administrators to configure the SONARPLEX appliance for network monitoring.

For configuring an SONARPLEX appliance some information is required:

  • Services, which your appliance should supply.
  • Hosts are appliances with an IP Address which are monitored.
  • Host groups are several Hosts created in order to reduce administration work.
  • Time periods, which define when person are responsible, when services are monitored and when alarms are given. You can, for example, monitor a host for 24 hours and enable alarms only for your service hours agreed by contract. In that case you do not receive any message outside your service hours.
  • Contacts are persons who are responsible for monitoring.
  • Contact Groups are several persons who are responsible for the same host or service.

As a first step define one or several time periods before you define a contact. When you later define the contact, you must assign an existing time period to that contact.

Please read also for more information the how-to articles that do contain setup related articles too.
