Create a new project for managing SONARPLEX appliances, which are installed in the network or managing hosts, which should be monitored. You can add SONARPLEX appliances to a project automatically or manually. You can also add available host(s) to SONARPLEX appliance.

Automatically adding SONARPLEX appliances

  1. Click on File > New Project
  2. Enter a password and confirm it by using the “Set Project Password” dialog
  3. Click on  Setup > Discover appliances, then the “Search Network” dialog opens (see picture below)
  4. Enter the corresponding information in the “Network” and “Subnet Mask” input boxes
  5. By correct entries structure the button “Ok” is enabled and click on it to start the search. 
    In the status line of SONARMANAGER, a progress bar and a percentage display indicate the search progress. In addition, the number of found SONARPLEX appliances is indicated. When the maximum number of SONARPLEX appliances according to your licence is reached, no further SONARPLEX appliances are added. When the search is completed, the found SONARPLEX appliances are displayed in the main screen of SONARMANAGER in the tree structure on the left.

Manually adding SONARPLEX appliances

  1. Click on File > New Project
  2. Enter a password and confirm it by using the “Set Project Password” dialog
  3. Add a locaton via right click on “All Appliances” on the left side
  4. Enter a location or costumer name and click “Ok”. The selection of the name depends on the current project or on the network structure to be monitored.
    You can modify the “Location” entry at any time to take a changed network structure into account (e.g. in case of relocation) by right clicking on the location and then choosing “Rename Location”
  5. Click on Setup > Add Appliance => The “Add new Appliance” screnn opens (see picture below). For more details above the parameters, see the opposite table.

  6. Fill the input boxes with the corresponding information.
  7. Click on “Connect” to check the connection to a SONARPLEX appliance. If there is a wrong value in one of the input boxes (e.g. a wrong administrator password or a wrong port), a corresponding message is displayed (e.g. “Wrong PW”). Repeat step 6 and correct your entry.
  8. Click on “OK”
