Settings

The following describes the settings for Configuration > Network > SMTP Configuration in detail. 

SettingDescription
SMTP Server

IP address or FQDN of mail server

Port to use

TCP Port of mail server, default is 25

SenderSender address for outgoing mail notifications, e.g. admin@mycompany.com
Authentication User

Username for authentication on SMTP mail server

Authentication PasswordCorresponding password

Verifying Mail Settings

You can test the configuration easily.

  1. Open the Administration Web Interface > Configuration > Templates
  2. Choose "Service-Problem Notification via Email" or " Host-Problem Notification via Email" and click the test button . An e-mail will be sent immediately to the configured Administrator contact (See Setup > Contacts > Administrator)

  3. Check the log file for debug information,  Administration Web Interface > Logs > QMail MTA [qmail.log]
